So I decided to customize my header on my layout, but for some reason it's not stretching all the way. I did the size it's supposed to be, but it's scooshed to the right, lol. I messed with it for awhile & I give up at this point. If anyone can clue me in I would appreciate it, really.
The Christina header was cropped from a wallpaper graphic that I made this weekend.
Superbowl Sunday was great! I just watched it at my boyfriend's house here & there. I started paying more attention towards the end when the underdogs won! Go Giants! I watched a clip of Jordin Sparks singing the anthem & she sang it so good I was amazed. I definitely loved Alicia Keys' performance, but I wasn't a fan of her leopard pants. It made her hips look that much bigger. She should've worn black pants & a leopard top instead, but oh well, her performance is what's most important.
Going to bed now.

My review;
Disc One
- Intro (Back to Basics); Sets a great introduction to the album..I dig the beat, the old voices from the past introducing Christina, the chorus..going back to basics to where it all began..
- Makes Me Wanna Pray;
Soul to the bone! Love the choir in the background, makes you really
feel that love truly does take you to another level. The chorus just
hooks you, the piano & the organ are in perfect harmony. The bridge
is so amazing, towards the end of it the gospel choir gets louder &
gives me chills. That's what every bridge should do anyway ;) I love
the end ..clapping Makes Me Wanna .. Very well written.
- Back in the Day;
Almost like the intro, with voices of the past. I think this song is a
really amazing tribute to the musicians back in the day. Dj Premier did
a good job in this track, you can hear him spinnin' the disc & it's
not too much. You can't help but want to get up and dance. Just get up, get on it, get yourself on the floor, don't back away ..come celebrate ..
- Ain't No Other Man; Definitely a dance track ..not too much of a fan on the bridge 'ain't no other, ain't, aint no other other' but it still gets you hooked. Blaring horns, trumpets, the lyrics are sweet. Modernized twist onto old upbeat jazz.
- Understand; Oh my god, I really love this song. Very soulful, her voice is so smooth & full of soul in every note she reaches. She sings it just the same live. I really like the beginning with the old recording & then adding her own modern interpretation & her song begins. The beat & instruments are flowing freely & gives you that good feeling. Beautifully written, just talking bout how he stuck it in there when she was resisting falling in love with him because of so many heartbreaks if you wanna call it that. The chorus is my favorite, the background singers sing smoothly & complement her song. The bridge is pure heaven..it leads to the climax of how happy she is that he stayed & that made her fall in love with him. The end brings back the old groove recording to wrap it up nicely.
- Slow Down Baby; The trumpets put that nice sound in the beginning..and also throughout the song. I really love this song because her vocals go in different directions & full of emotion. I love the saxophone in the background, it's always in the background & gives it a great foundation.
- Oh Mother; Another one of my favorites. This is one of her personal tracks & as soon as I heard it I knew that this song was gonna be one of my absolute favorites. The piano throughout the song sounds so beautiful. Her vocals are full of emotion. It takes me back to my past because my mom was also abused by my dad, only emotional abuse. Nevertheless, it's a hard thing to overcome. It's nice to see that she dedicated a thank you song to her mother. Ok, back to the song..I really dig the chorus..especially the bridge, it literally makes me wanna cry. Always pull through, we always pull through..I love you mom.
- F.U.S.S. (Fuck You Scott Storch); Nice beat, although this is a good interlude, it might as well been a song..but different lyrics ;) reminds me of Walk Away a little bit. Hope it all was worth it ..Looks like I didn't need you, still got the album out. Like someone I heard mentioned that the last line was a slap in the face & I agree.
- On Our Way; I like the skippin' & the piano is very pretty. One of my favorite songs because the lyrics ring true to me. I think we're on our way..to better days, better days .. The bridge is that extra topping that makes it all come together..with her vocals going up & down.
- Without You;
Another one of my faves. I really like the beginning of the guitar..I
think it's a guitar. Her vocals remind me of Mariah in some parts of
the song. I love the lyrics..the short horns coming in at the break
after the first verse. You're my saving grace.. Vocals go up & down like the guitar in the beginning ..the piano finishing it off was nice.
- Still Dirrty; Has that old groove feel in the song. Good to know that she hasn't changed much. I like the part where she says 'if you want some more SEXY still got that freak in me' I also like the part where she says "still dirty, still got it". Makes you wanna dance & give that attitude.
- Here to Stay; The chorus reminds me of the Pepsi commercial she was in for some reason. I like the message she says in this song. Doesn't matter what people say or think, she's still gonna do what she was born to do & she's here to stay. The bridge is a nice change, different from the whole song.
- Thank You (Dedication to Fans..); Dig the spinnin', the old song clips that she sang when she first came on the scene. I love this song because it came as a surprise to see that she made a song for us. The voice recordings of the fans made me jealous & wish that I was on there..but I wouldn't have known what to say. One of the clips made me realize how music does save your life in some ways, like the guy said that he was contemplating suicide & he got through it b/c of her music. Wow..that's amazing. I love Shane Burrows' recording..he's so cute :) He made her laugh..aww! lol..ok back to the song.. I love the chorus .. thank you for being behind me, & watching me grow, & letting others know that you'll still believe in what I'll be ..& I'm one of those people that let others know ;)
- Enter the Circus;
Very intriguing opening for disc two. Automatically it gives you the
feeling that this is gonna be different..than anything we've ever heard
from Christina, or anyone else for that matter. I think it's funny when
the announcer sings along. It's gonna be a bumpy ride to the other side..
- Welcome; It feels like she's at the circus & singing this song. I like this track & the previous one because it makes you feel like you're watching a movie..building up to what's next. I like the music on this song, & then at the end when the whistling begins & the circusy music diminishes as if it was a carousel that came to halt & the lights turned off.
- Candyman; I seriously love this song..wayyy more than Ain't No Other Man..just because it really gives you that feeling from the 20's & 30's. I feel like I wanna get up & do a crazy dance. Tarzan & Jane line is cute. I like her whispering "sweet, sugar, candyman".. I love the horns blaring, the bridge 'he's a one stop gotcha hot, makin' all the panties drop.. he's a one stop got me hot, making my uh pop..he's a one stop get it while it's hot, baby don't stop"..that's what I call FUN music like she would call it back in the day ;)
- Nasty Naughty Boy; Wow..this song is so provocative & wild on so many levels. I love it though ;) I just picture Xtina singing to an audience, since there's cheering & clappin' & doing so in a sultry, sexy way. Her voice is so seductive & her vocals are perfect. I like the beginning & how it gets quieter as she gets into the song. Got you HOT, BOTHERED & WET .. :O ..put your icing on my cake you nasty boy .. I NEED A SPANKIN' CUZ I'VE BEEN BAD .. definitely one of my faves.
- I Got Trouble; I picture Billy Holiday singing this song & I honestly thought that Christina's CD was mostly gonna be like this song but I was in for a surprise :) I think she really stepped outside the box & did a great job on the other tracks. As far as this one, I love it because it has that bluesy, old scratchy sound..It definitely throws you back because this song makes you feel like you're back in time..this is probably what Christina would sound like if she was a star in the 20's, 30's & 40's. I really love when she goes, 'oh my, my' ;D The bridge is excellent! she gives that push & grunt like she always does, but it feels different. Even when the song is over you still hear that scratchy dead air..so cool.
- Hurt; This is one of my favorites because she sings it so powerfully & full of emotion. The piano is very nice throughout the song. On the extra ..they played this song acapella & it's really beautiful. I could see it being in a movie or something. I love singing to this song..I'll probably do a video of it someday ;)
- Mercy On Me; This song has my name written all over it. Especially when I think about how I left my church..I know I've deviated from my path & that's why this song really calls me out. I looove the ending ..I need forgiveness, I need forgiveness..from you
- Save Me From Myself; This is my most favorite in the second CD. It feels as if she's so close to you because there's not much going on in the background. I love the lyrics & it's yet another beautifully written song & I feel the same as she does towards our loves. Her sound is completely different than her usual highs & lows that she likes to get into on every one of her songs. It has that old blues sound, yet modernized with her touch. It's obvious your tenderness is what I need to make me..a better woman to myself.
- The Right Man;
this song is so sad, yet very beautiful as she sings it like she always
does. Another song I like to sing to. The ending is so sweet..it just
says to me how one day her daughter won't have a broken relationship
with her father because she found the right man that will lead her
family & keep bringing her happiness.
